Our paper entitled “High Carrier Concentration in Mg2Si1-xSbx (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.10) Prepared by a Combination of Liquid-solid Reaction, Ball Milling, and Spark Plasma Sintering” has been published in Intermetallics. The carrier concentration approximately ten times higher than that previously reported was obtained.

Kouji SARUWATARI won the poster award of the annual meeting of The Japanese Society for Neutron Science held in Nagoya, Japan for his poster on structural analysis of proton conductive Ce1-xLaxO2-x/2.

Our paper entitled “Fabrication of Tetragonal Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 Nanorods by Focused Ion Beam and Characterization of the Domain Structure” has been published in IEEE Trans. Ultrason., Ferroelect., Freq. Control. The clapping angle in the a/c-domain structured-nanorods varied with the rod width.

Our JST-PRESTO Scientific Innovation for Energy Harvesting Technology project, Piezoelectric Films with Enhanced Response by Polarization Manipulation, has begun.
Our paper entitled “Significant Suppression of Island Growth in Epitaxial (Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O3 Thin Films by Two-step Growth Technique” has been published in J. Ceram. Soc. Jpn. The initial low temperature deposition greatly suppressed the island growth of PLZT film, which is necessary for realizing thin film-based electro-optic devices.

Our paper entitled “Fabrication and Characterization of (111)-epitaxial Pb(Zr0.35Ti0.65)O3/Pb(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 Artificial Superlattice Thin Films” has been published in Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. The (111)-PZT artificial superlattice films with sharp interfaces are successfully grown by pulsed laser deposition.
