|Pushing the Performance of Electro-Mechanical Thin Films
Shogo MATSUO was selected for a finalist of Student Poster Competition of The 2017 Joint IEEE ISAF-IWATMD-PFM held in Atlanta, USA for his presentation “Nonlinear Electric Field Dependence of Electrocaloric Effect in (001)-epitaxial (Ba,Sr)TiO3 Thin Films”.
Our paper entitled “High Carrier Concentration in Mg2Si1-xSbx (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.10) Prepared by a Combination of Liquid-solid Reaction, Ball Milling, and Spark Plasma Sintering” has been published in Intermetallics. The carrier concentration approximately ten times higher than that previously reported was obtained.

Shogo MATSUO and Kazuki OKAMOTO respectively won the incentive award of The 48th meeting of Chubu branch of Atomic Energy Society of Japan held in Nagoya, Japan for their presentations “Indirect Measurements of Electrocaloric Effect in Ferroelectric Thin Films by Positive-up-negative-down Method” and “Development of Nanoimprint Process for Piezoelectric Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 Thin Films toward controlling the Domain Structure”.
On December 9, Prof. Kyle Brinkman (Clemson University, US) visited us and lectured on energy-related ceramics.

Youhei EBIHARA won the 3rd place poster award of The 10th Asian Meeting on Electroceramics-2016 (AMEC-2016) held in Taipei, Taiwan for his poster “Structural and Piezoelectric Properties in (111) Tetragonal/Rhombohedral Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 Artificial Superlattice Thin Films”.
Kouji SARUWATARI won the poster award of the annual meeting of The Japanese Society for Neutron Science held in Nagoya, Japan for his poster on structural analysis of proton conductive Ce1-xLaxO2-x/2.
Shogo MATSUO won the presentation award of The 36th Electronics Division Meeting of the Ceramic Society of Japan held in Kawasaki, Japan for his poster “Influence of Residual Strain and Applied Electric Field on Electrocaloric Effect in Epitaxial (Ba, Sr)TiO3 Thin Films”.
Our paper entitled “Fabrication of Tetragonal Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 Nanorods by Focused Ion Beam and Characterization of the Domain Structure” has been published in IEEE Trans. Ultrason., Ferroelect., Freq. Control. The clapping angle in the a/c-domain structured-nanorods varied with the rod width.
